Take food from deli was quite delicious and especially at the price of 5.50 for three 3 item combo
We live close so sometimes we run to this market to pick up 1-2 things rather than heading to Ralph’s. Their prices on produce are beyond compare to that of chain supermarkets. My kids LOVE to check out the live fish tanks and to see what other animals might be available. Perk: I make my kids practice their Mandarin and they do ALL the talking while we are there! At first they were shy, but now they like the attention they get because you wouldn’t expect my girls with blue eyes and chestnut brown eyes and wavy long hair and deep golden tanned skin from summers in Palm Springs and Long Beach to know as much conversational Mandarin as they do. My 6 year old has been with Mandarin-Only speaking teachers for 4 years and my 10 year old has been doing this for 6 years. But I digress! The market is fine for a quick trip but I’m more comfortable in my Ralphs for a full shopping trip.
Super super super healthy food.
I am an American living in Italy. At my local butcher shop you will find rabbit, hare, wild boar, pigeon, sparrows, horse and donkey, along with all the regular meats. Donkey meat is incredible! I would eat a raccoon in a heartbeat. If the meat is good, where is the problem? I would much prefer to eat a free-range raccoon than pork from a pig that has been kept in an American pork-factory, confined to a tiny cage all its life.
Sigh, I was almost in tears as I saw the huge tank of cute live frogs and read a sign that said frogs and turtles must be killed before leaving the store. Besides my own drama, the people in the store were friendly and helpful. Prices seemed decent and they had a few interesting items on sale that I picked up, whereas if they were regular priced I may not have....I didn't know that you could buy live turtles and frogs for consumption. It was interesting......
